Why do we need offline browsers

We have already got used to many essential information problems we can solve, or just try to solve, with the help of the Internet. Some simple examples. The summer – is time of holidays. The first and main question: where and how to have a rest? For the answer we address to tourist sites and find out there long lists of a number of different geographical names: Turkey, Egypt, France etc., and behind of each element of these lists – various conditions of organization of a trip. And what to do with all this information?

Another example. Autumn. The academic year began. The schoolboys and students can find a grate quantity of the useful information in the Internet, down to the ready-made abstracts (for the laziest). Or cannot find… but they will come across with the huge lists without fail.

At the winter time we make our flats warmer, dress warm clothes, in the New Year holidays we decorate New Year’s tree – and the Internet again advices: what, where, when and how much! How many hours should be carried out in a network in a searching of the necessary information? How much it will cost to you? One of ways to reduce these charges – previously to save pages of site, interesting for you, on a hard disk, and then to study them in offline.

Of course, it is possible to search in the Internet not only abstracts or information about picturesque places for holiday. It is quite possible that you drop in a network for quite other reasons. For example, you want to find materials about somebody of celebrities or collect the information about the new program or hardware, interesting for you. For certain you collided with necessity of loading of not two or three of chosen pages (WEB-browsers can cope with this operation, they have learned to save pages with all graphics), but the whole site or some of its sections. Do you want to learn to embroider in silk for ten lessons or to read the complete collected works of Dale Karnegy? The special utilities - offline-browsers or down loaders - can help in it.

By functionality it is possible to choose two groups of such programs. Some just download sites from a network, but without opportunity to look-see their contents at once (for this purpose the separate Web-browser is necessary). Others allow to look-see the loaded information at once, using the built-in means of display of HTML-files. Besides, many offline-browsers have flexible adjustments, it allows saving traffic and time, and consequently, your money effectively.

Usually you have to specify only addresses of resources to offline-browser for loading. The program carries out all other operations independently: starting with the main page of a site, it downloads all documents, found out on the links. It is possible to set depth of enclosures of the documents independently. What for? A simple example: when you are going to holiday, at first it is necessary to define, where will you with friends or with family go? We "direct" the offline-browser at the page with the list of possible destinations (countries or cities) and set the depth of following under the links equals one. The offline-browser will download the information, which will allow you "to orient on district" and to choose a place of holiday as desirable.

The more the depth of enclosures of the downloaded documents, the more the program will download information, but the probability of missing of something interesting and necessary is less. Therefore this value is recommended to be chosen in each concrete case.

The speed of work of offline-browsers depends on an initial code of processing pages in many respects. If everything is confined on a hypertext - it is one case, if it is necessary to start CGI-scripts - is another. As content in a today's network is often formed dynamically, many offline-browsers have learned to take into account, that there can be not page, but pattern of the document behind the link; the necessary textual and graphic data are substituted in this pattern from a database. At preservation of HTML-files on a local disk all these scripts and patterns, of course, are replaced with a usual hypertext, and the paths and expansions of files are corrected for convenient navigation in an offline routine.

Thus, modern offline-browsers are an irreplaceable tool of any user of the Internet, same necessary as a browser or mail client.
